The results of the Second Round 2025/2026 are final, and here is a quick summary of how the round unfolded.

128 participants took on the challenge of competing in the 2026 Olympiad in Informatics. From October 1 to November 30, 2025, they had time to solve tricky programming tasks online.

The solutions to this year’s Second Round tasks will be published soon*. You will get notified when this happens.

This year we again slightly adjusted the contest structure, with an additional stage called the First Round including multiple choice questions, as well as a renaming of the Qualification Round to Second Round. As last year, there will be an extended ceremony following the Finals in March where everyone participating in the Second Round including their teachers and parents is invited. We will present the results, some solutions and more.

Impressive performance from Myriam, winning both the regular and junior rounds

The Qualification Round saw participants solving many different classical competitive programming problems. In some task, they had to help a time-traveling Mouse Binna to program a mysterious machine, while in some other one, they had to help her get through woods while wildfires where blazing.

This year, the three best participants of the Qualification Round are: Myriam Faltin (CEC André-Chavann, Geneva), Levin Glatz (Kantonsschule Wettingen, Aargau), and Alan Jong Poeta Ferreira (MNG Rämibühl, Zurich).

Myriam, who won a gold medal at the last EGOI, won first place in this year’s regular round as well as in the junior round, both by a margin of more than 20 points!

For the second time in a row, Levin Glatz earned the second place, while Alan Jong Poeta Ferreira got third on his first camp qualification.

Strong results also in the junior round

The junior round is for participants who are still in school for at least two more years and can therefore still participate in the SOI many more times. This year, the participants had to calculate, among other things, how long it would take to man all the fortresses of the Timurid Empire.

By a margin of impressive 70 points, Myriam Faltin (CEC André-Chavann, Geneva) grabbed her second first place besides this year’s regular round. The second place consisted of a three-way tie between Alexander von Itzenplitz (MNG Rämibühl, Zurich), Oliver Schulte (Realgymnasium Rämibühl, Zurich) and Aliaksei Badnarchuk (MNG Rämibühl, Zurich), all of them getting a strong 502 points.
