Qualification Round 2025 results
Happy new year! The results of the Qualification Round 2024/2025 are final, and here is a quick summary of how the round unfolded.
106 participants took on the challenge of competing in the 2025 Olympiad in Informatics. From September 15 to November 30, 2024, they had time to solve tricky programming tasks online.
The solutions to this year’s Qualification Round tasks have now been published! You can find the solution booklet in our task archive. Additionally, participants who qualified for the next rounds and the camp have received an email with more details.
This year we have slightly adjusted the contest structure, the three stages now being called Qualification Round, Finals and Team Selection. Compared to last year, there is no more SOI Day. Instead, there will be an extended ceremony following the Finals in March where everyone participating in the Qualification Round including their teachers and parents is invited. We will present the results, some solutions and more.
Impressive performance from Andrej, winning both the regular and junior rounds
The Qualification Round saw participants solving classical competitive programming problems, as well as writing programs to compete against each other trying to ice the best parts of a cake while balancing the use of their limited amount of icing to defend their claimed slices. The final results of this icing competition will be revealed during the SOI camp in February.
This year, the three best participants of the Qualification Round are: Andrej Ševera (Collège Voltaire, Geneva), Levin Glatz (Kantonsschule Wettingen, Aargau), and Ursus Wigger (Altekanti Aarau, Aargau).
Andrej, who got second place in 2023/2024, won first place in this year’s regular round as well as in the junior round.
With a difference of only 6 points, Levin Glatz earned the second place, followed closely by Ursus Wigger with an additional 9 points difference. Overall, the standings are very tight.

Strong results also in the junior round
The junior round is for participants who are still in school for at least two more years and can therefore still participate in the SOI many more times. This year, the participants had to calculate, among other things, how to escape a tomb by predicting the results of ancient instructions applied to a wheel.
Two participants manage to get full score in this round! Andrej Ševera (Collège Voltaire, Geneva) and Albert Kovacs (MNG Rhämibühl, Zurich) both got all 600 points, with Andrej also winning this year’s regular round. The third place went to Anthony Weibel (Realgymnasium Rämibühl, Zurich).

The goal in sight: The IOI in Bolivia
The competition continues for the computer science fans as early as February: 28 selected participants will train at the Sarnen camp from February 8 – 15, 2025. This is followed by the Finals, which will consist of two practical exams that will happen in March. The top participants will advance to the Team Selection, where the four best will qualify for the International Olympiad in Informatics in Bolivia (27 July – 3 August 2025).
